A question that has to do with Halo 3 Skulls?

Okay, I play Halo 3 and I'm going for all of the hidden skulls.

I missed a few on the way, and I was wondering do I have to restart the mission in order for the skull to count/appear?

I missed Cowbell and Grunt Birthday Party.

you have to play the mission from the beginning with minimum difficulty of normal. once u find the skull u can quit and save, you don't have to beat the entire mission to get the skull
