Any tips for an amateur Halo 3 player?(detailed plz!!!)?

Like I said in my "About Me" little paragraph: I'm not a noob at Halo 3 but that doesn't mean I'm a pro. If you have any tips what-so-ever plz list them here. BUT...don't list crappy, useless, or obvious tips. And make sure their detailed. Thx.

well first heres some obvious ones(dont worry thats not all im gunna put)
head shots are alwayz better
keep moving when engaged in combat(makes it a son of a beach to shoot at)
alwayz make sure you have a good clip because reloading at a horrible time can really mess you up.

k thats some obvious ones here is some i learned from some advanced players.

1.dont play defensive at all times(doesnt sound to helpful but let me get into detail.)
*all of these tips are about multiplayer*
If you are in a secluded place and you know your opponent is stalking after you. dont wait for him to show up because the element of surprise will overtake you.

2.This is a really simple one and sounds stupid but this tip helped me wayy more than any others i have gotten.
Stay Calm. thats it.
details: If your taking shots (say on x-live)
dont freak out and shoot in the direction. stay calm and find cover..thats the first thing. Next you find out their position. And you flank them from an extremely unexpected spot.

*When someone told me that last one i was like "duh that doesnt help" but beleive me it helped me so much..i used to get dominated on live..now i am surprised if i dont get atleast 2nd place.
