Are there any Halo 3 strategies someone could share?

I'm going to my friends birthday party tomorrow, and he has halo 3 for xbox, which were obviously going to play. Most of my friends have halo 3, but I have a Nintendo wii so I dont know how to play halo on a 360 controller very well. Are their any techniques or tips on how to make me better?
P.S. I've played once before and I know how to shoot and all the basic crap, but I want to learn some advanced techniques so I can impress my friends at the party

jump around a lot because it is harder for them to shoot you. especially if they have a sniper, rocket launcher, or a spartan lazer. duel weapons double damage. use your radar because people will sneak up on you. throw grenades when you are about to die because they will kill them even if you are dead. stay away from exploding barrels because if they get shot and you are next to them, you will die.
