At the end of halo 3 legendary edition what happened?

If you played halo 3 in legendary addition. After cheif is frozen you see the ship. Then there's this big bright light that looks ligh its surrounding a planet. What was that and what happened to cheif and cortana. Dose this show there making another game.
Im talking about after he's frozen. (you can only see this clip on legendary or youtube.

*SPOILERS****
Master Chief is climbing back on board the ship and it explodes and fades out...you are left thinking Master Chief dies.
After the exposion Master Chief and Cortana are stuck on the half of the ship stuck in limbo and they are forced to float in space having no means of engine since the ship was blown in half. Master Chief goes into cryostasis and tells Cortana if anything happens wake me. End.
Unfortunatly this is the final game but remember heros wont be remembered by what theyve said, only by what theyve done.

i heard that after it shows the memorial at the end and they walk away master cheif comes down in a escape pod and says am i late for the party, thats only what i heard i really should watch on youtube.

The planet is said to be Onyx. Onyx is where trillions of sentinals are made and was a Forerunner city. There is a Dyson Sphere that is protected by the sentinals here. It is where some people went into it trying to flee the Covenant. A Spartan named Kurt died trying to prevent the Covenant from getting to those people. If you read the book Ghosts of Onyx it will tell you all about it. Or you can just google it and read about it that way. It was also a Safe Planet for the Forerunners in which they would go if the Halo's were ever detonated.

ok i watched it on youtube and they barly make it from the halo beam of death and then cortana puts out a beacon and master cheif stays in the crysalys thing and says wake me when u need me and thats it.

Yeah thats the regular ending if you beat it on Easy, Normal, or Heroic. All you have to do is beat the last lvl on Legendary and it will give you the extra part where you see the ship floating towards the unknown planet.
