Can I Play Halo 3 On the Original Xbox?

well, whenever im bored or when i just want to i play halo 3 on my xbox 360, which is in my living room, BUT, right at this moment, my dad is watching a football game with his buddies, ad i unfortunatly cant play. i do have an xbox original, which is in my room, can you play halo 3 on the original xbox? or do you need the gamertag and everything?
