Did anybody play the halo wars demo?

I thought it was good for a console RPG, i loved age of empires and mythology so Ensemble know what they're doing. Though I'm confused about the flood. If you play as them, how do u get resources, also. If you encounter them in the game as the UNSC, it would be irrelevant to the Halo story-line, seeing as the UNCS first encounter them 28 years after halo wars.
