Do i need halo 3 to play halo ODST?!!?

Do i have to have the halo 3 game in order to play ODST cuz my friends said its an expansion to halo-3 and i need halo-3 and if not

i heard there r ganna be 2 dvd's
the 1 is the game and the 2nd 1 maps 4 halo-3 or halo ODST?

or cn i use the other dvd to install the maps on halo odst?

plzz i need answers with full details

Nope. This is part of the Halo series but it's a game, not an expansion.

You do NOT need to have Halo 3 to play ODST nor do you need it to play the maps on the second disk because your friend is wrong. Halo 3:ODST is NO LONGER an expansion.It was originally an expansion then it was turned into a full-fledged game. So basically you do not need to have Halo 3 in order to play ODST nor do you need Halo 3 to play the second disk that has all 21 Halo 3 maps +3 new ones.

No. The game is not an expansion off of halo 3, its a whole game b itself.
