Do you need a gold membership to play halo 3 live?

i was just put down t silver and now it says i need an acount that supports multilayer games

yes silver all that doesnt let you create an name but it doesnt allow u to play xbox live you need the gold account for that

Silver accounts do not let you play, they are only good for the dashboard and Marketplace. Gold memberships are what you need to actually play any game. They cost 50 USD a year.
