Do you need Halo 3 to play Halo 3 ODST?

I heard that Halo 3 ODST is coming out this fall, and i wanted to know if you had to have Halo 3 to play it. I never went out and got Halo 3 because i was just waiting for something like this to come out. Anyone have an answer?

No, Its A Standalone Expansion, meaning that you don't have to have the original game
