Does internet speed affect connecting to people on halo 3?

instead of router issues, because my friend told me that a faster internet will allow me to connect to more people on halo 3. But I think its just router settings. Strict, moderate, and open. So please let me know

it's the incoming connections of more users. When you play with more xboxes, more users are connecting to your hosted game, that slows down the network connection. Yes, getting a faster line would help, it has nothing to do with your router settings.
