Oh if you want realistic strategy games with humans I would highly recommend the total war series. They are currently making a Samurai style type game that is rumored to station over 43,000 troops on a single field of battle.
shogun: Total War2000, 2001-never played it
Medieval: Total War2002, 2003- loved the game
Rome: Total War2004, 2005, 2006, 2010-Great game but you'll probably need cheats
Medieval II: Total War2006, 2007
Empire: Total War2009
Napoleon: Total War2010
These are all the games that are a part of the total war series all great games and I think they will match what you are looking for. If these games are not in the time in history you like then I would probably recommend Red alert 3 another great game. But do not get SC2 that game in my opinion was a total rip off.
You might want to use this site first before you buy any of these to see if your computer can handle these games................And then use IGN.com to look at some of the in game videos to see if these games are to your liking.
