Halo 3 BR and Sniping tips?

Okay, i love halo 3. My BR is okay, but my sniper definitely needs work. I play on 3 sensitivity and im pretty sure im going to stay like that. So any tips on the BR and sniper would be appreciated.
Like how far are you supposed to lead with the battle rifle when you are shooting long distance. Whats the best way to snipe.

Just any help would be greatly appreciated
