Halo 3 --- don't look if you haven't played it through yet -- ending...

...question.... (major spoiler)? Sooooo...... did anyone else think the ending of Halo 3 didn't make sense????

What the hell?? One second you're seeing the Chief & Cortana in the back of the frigate, and the Elite goes up front, and the Cheif says "we'll make it", then the next thing you see is the memorial, and the Commander person guy saying the Chief's dead? What's with the number 117 carved into the memorial?

Why did this not make sense to me???? Did I miss something? Or is there going to be a surprise Halo 4 in the future. What the hell? I just don't get it, and I thought it was a great game with an extremely dissappointing ending.
Ooooohhh..... I haven't beaten it on Legendary yet, and of course, I don't think I watched allllll of the end credits , so of course I missed something.

Well, at least that makes more sense.

halo just sucks/is gay to start with...who cares about the ending, other than its over!

What happened is the ship the chief was on split in two. The Arbiters half reached Earth but Chief's didn't so they assumed he was dead. But as you see after the credits roll the Chief is still alive but nobody knows where he is. Kind of a wierd ending but it fits somehow cause someday they will find the Chief when they need him most.

no the back part of the ship breaks off and drifts into space with chief in cryogenic sleep.

they thought he was dead in the explosion, thats why they made the memorial.

finishing on legendary extends the ending so theres a bit more to it if you havent beat it on legendary yet.

If you havent seen the legendary ending yet, just beat the last lvl on Legendary and it will give you the extended ending. All the legendary shows is MC and Cortana floating towards an unkown planet. Looks like Onyx, but no one knows for sure.
