halo 3 error?

when i play halo, i go to matchmaking, then i select network and xbox live. A screen pops up that says "Not Allowed, some gamer profiles do not have permission to play on xbox live, choose a valid gamer profile or play local to this xbox 360 console." I have a gold membership and i was just on xbox live yesterday.

xbox live has been down for some people and it isnt possible to use microsoft points or redeem subscriptions, and recover gamertags. We will have to wait for the system to be up and running again.

i really dont have a clue...you should see if its anything to do with parental controls...etc.
