Halo 3 Freezes when loading checkpoints?

Does this happen to anybody else
During gameplay it freezes for like a second when loading checkpoints is this normal

I highly doubt it is normal if it happens more than once or twice, I have had issues with my halo 3 disc, check the back of the disc, if it is not scratched it could be your disc drive. Also is this for ODST or Regular?

your disk might need to be cleaned or the actual lens in your xbox might need to be cleaned. you can do that with a DVD lens cleaner.
(that happened to my friend and he cleaned the disk than it worked again)
