halo 3 help everytime i respawn, i fall off a cliff and die then i respawn

and the same thing happens!!? soo i hate driving the warthog so i always go in the turret and this time, the stupid marine drove rite off a cliff rite when i got a checkpoint. so now everytime i respawn, we just fall off the cliff again!! ugh i got ssooooo far and i didnt save and i dont want 2 go back!! plz hlp wat do i do!!
