halo 3 help?

i have some questions about the story of halo 3 that i din't get:
1: What is the cartographer that you find
2: why in the end does teh monter attack jhoson and you
3where does the mission where u rescue cortana take place ( i think it is 2nd last) (it is flood)
4: why in the end do u want to activate halo
5: what is with the new halo that u see, how did it get there, what it it.
6: in the end how do u die, i saw that you almost get sucked into space but then you climb back on.

1. i have no idea what that means...prolly the key to activating a halo ring or somethin
2. his job is to do something..and u screw with it and it didnt like that..basically, so it shoots and u shoot back
3.that mission is on a flood-infected ship that the elites had once upon a time
4.to blow all the flood..for good
5.new halo? u sure bout that?
6. u dont die..watch past the credits..u take a nap in some sleep chamber dealy..possible cliff hanger
