halo 3 how to get on multiplayer?

i just got halo 3 and i cannot figure out how to get on xbox live to play online. can someone give me instructions on what menus to go to from the main menu

First answer that helps me=10 points

also i go into matchmaking and nobody comes up and i go into custom games and nothing comes up.

Okay first of all, no one will be in your custom game unless you invite them to it.

Most importantly, you must have an Xbox Live subscription and a gold account. Once you have this, put in your Halo 3 and from the main menu, choose matchmaking. Then you will see a screen saying switch lobby, playlist, and start matchmaking. Choose a simple playlist at first, like Lone Wolves. The reason you are probably having trouble finding matches to play, is because for most playlists on Halo 3, you need to have some of the DLC Maps from the Xbox Live Marketplace to play them. If you cannot play a certain playlist, you will see your name on the right side of the screen flashing and the words, You do not have all the maps required for this playlist, under the start matchmaking button. But my suggestion would be, make sure you have XBL. Then go to menu and choose matchmaking. Choose playlist and select Lone Wolves. Then choose Start Matchmaking. Then wait until 5 other players are located and enjoy!

go tho the matchmaking....and you have to be connected to the internet..if your problem comes up again just turn off your xbox, wait a minute turn it back on and then connect to live and try again.

You have to have xbox live connected first of all, then i beleive that you just go to Matchmaking and it should work.... im about 90% sure
