halo 3 katana without 49 ach. or 1000 gs?

Okay, earlier on my friend and I were playing halo 3 and my friend was looking through his armor when he saw he had the katana body, now it struck me as odd because you're supposed to have 49 Achievements and 1000 Gamer Score in halo 3 before you can unlock it.. Well, he has 970 gs in halo 3 and 33 achievements. Anybody know how that could be?

first time ive seen this, could be glitched or soemthing, cuz all you need now is 100 gs or the original 49 achievements of halo 3

its cause of the new achievements
its a % based on a certain # so the more achievements, the easier itll be

Its more likely its a glitch, I had 2 work hard 4 my katana, and I got all the achievements 4 halo 3(1st 49 achievements) and I don't use it I'm an elite so idk it was probably a glitch
