Halo 3 lagging issues?

My friend keeps lagging un Halo 3, so when he is on my team we always loose. His lagging is getting so bad now that him failing is bringing my rank down. When we do doubles we won twice. But i scored 47 points. He said that he doesnt know how to fix it. How does he?
