Halo 3 map packs question.?

What do the maps consist of and how many DLC maps are there? I want to know if I will be missing out if I don't buy the map packs. I don't have Halo 3 but I want to know if I should get Halo 3 or ODST.

So how many map pack maps are there?
I know ODST has the maps. That's why I am asking if I will be missing out.

Definitely get ODST. It has all the multiplayer maps from 3 plus more new ones. The only thing it doesn't have from 3 is the campaign.

You want to buy Halo 3 ODST because it comes with all the map packs and the story mode is better than Halo 3.

You're going to need the map packs to play most of the game types in matchmaking. Otherwise you're pretty much stuck with rumble pit.
