Halo 3 meta points and co-op??

I'm trying to help my friend get all of the meta points achievements in Halo 3,(I already have them from single player.) and I was wondering if you can get the achievements in Co-op with team scoring on. Can all of the players get 15'000 points total and unlock the achievement, or does the player have to get the 15'000 by themselves? Please answer, I would like to help him very soon. My GT is MASTXRCHIEFF.

First off it he is better than you than turn on individual. If your better turn on team. It would also be easier if you do this on seprate tv's but still playing with each other.
