Halo 3 Multiplayer?

How do you create your own profile and customize your appearance and good stuff like that in Halo 3?
When I press start all it does is bring me to settings for something else. Do you have to be on a certain menu or anything?

The more you play multiplayer the higher your rating. The higher your rating the more stuff you get to customize your appearance.

Well if u hav a 360 im assuming u kno how to make a profile if not u just press the big X and somewhere it says create profile when ur in dashboard and to customize appearance u press start when ur on halo menu or in any lobby and go over to customize ur guy
