Halo 3 online ranks and gear?

Okay i just started playing Halo 3 online about two days ago. Its rlly freakin fun and im addicted. But iv been wondering...whats the easiest way to get ranks and get new kool looking gear? I see all these other players with freakin awesome lookin gear and like katanas and crap...how do i get that stuff?

To get the gear you need to find all the skulls like the other guys have said, and unlock the achievements in lone wolf. An easy way to rank up is play lone wolf, and that will work on your one on one battles to help you in other game types.

For a Katana you need to get all achievements then the Katana is unlocked.
