Halo 3 or Gears of War?

I'm getting an Xbox 360 Elite in about 2 weeks or so. My step-dad said that he would buy me my first 2 games; since I'm using all my money for the Xbox 360 Elite. I know I'm going to get Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare first, but I don't know if I should get Halo 3 or Gears of War as my second game. Caan someone give me your opinion. Thanx.

gears of war is a 3rd person shooter and halo 3 is a 1st person shooter. i got both games but i do tend to find gears of war more fun than halo3. if you compare both games, you will find gears of war to be more of a "next gen" game.

Halo 3 had higher replayability for me than Gears, however, Gears has better graphics and a pretty cool duck and cover system.

I'd go with Halo though.

gears of war unless ur gonna have live, cuz w/o live halo 3 is boring and the storyline sux. so definitely get gears of war especially if ur into a challenge. better graphics and gameplay, and especially storyline.

right now i would go with halo just cause it seem sthat more people are playing it right now but gears 2 is coming out in november so i would suggest getting it sometime

halo three was a good game, but there was really nothing new about it except the online co-op. i'd go with gears of war because it was just a better game all around.

Dude go with the pro verison because you have enough memory in that and you will save money but if you like the black xbox go ahead but dude get GTA 4 but if you like to save money go to gamefly.com i been using them since they came out they are awsome

Halo 3, It's the best game of all time, I absolutely worship it.
