Halo 3 Silver Skulls(How to Claim Them)?

Well i know that when u collect a gold skull an achievement thing pops up at the bottom of your screen, but when u pick up a silver skull, nothing happens. Does this mean i have to carry the skull untill i reach the end of the level or even if it doesnt give me an achievement, does that mean i've unlocked or claimed it anyway?

yea silver skulls dont give you an achievement, but when you pick them, they are activated and you can drop them. there is at least one gold skull on every level, and only some levels have a silver skull. there are 13 in total, and when you get all of them,you unlock the Hayabusa Armor helmet (i am sure you already knew all of that, i just felt like moving my fingers)
