Halo 3 skill points, how do they work?

If your team won, but you were last place in that team, then do you get any skill points, or fewer or what? Cause I am stuck at level 11, and have been playing many games and winning. ANd I play level 30 and 35. But i am still stuck at 11. Is it because i always come last place on my team, even though we win?

You need to play the ranked matches, I assume your not playing social matches such as social slayer or big team battle. If you play ranked, stick with slayer. This way, you should get an opponent team all ranked around the same skill level as you. If you win, any ranked match, you get an XP point. If you lose, you get 0 if you quit you get -1. I've never heard of not ranking up for doing bad on a winning team but whatever.
