Halo 3 Skull Question?

When attempting to get the IWHBYD skull, and the Tilt skull, are you required to start from the beginning of each level to get the skulls? Or can you just start from a rally point? Will they appear in their locations if you don't start from the beginning?

you MUST start from the beggining of the levels for all skulls, else they simply wont spawn onto the map, as soon as you have picked them up though you can save and quit, you need to be playing on any difficulty other than easy

You MUST start from the beginning of the mission (I know, sucks), and you must be playing on either normal, heroic, or legendary. You can't get any of the skulls on Easy.
