No, not for all at least. I believe you only have to complete the level when you get the IWBYD skull by jumping through the rings. It's at the end of the level anyways so it shouldn't be a problem.

Besides that NO you definitely do not have to complete the level.

you don't have to complete the level but I'm not sure about the last silver skull. I've gone for it twice from the beginning of the level and gotten it but didnt get the Hayabusa helmet. You don't have to for all of the other skulls but you may have to for the last one.

you can quit. but you have to start from the begining of the level, no check points
