Halo 3 voice chat problems?

Whenever I try using the headset on the screen it gives me this sign (a circle with a line in it) and according to the manual it's telling me that voice chat is not allowed. Do i have to go to a certain mode to use voice chat? I know me heaset works fine because I use it in Rock Band. Why isn't the voice chat working?

It is always a good idea to check your voice settings on any game that you play online and use a headset.

1. Make sure that the switch on your headset is set to the microphone(it has a mic icon)

2. Check on your 360 guide to see if your settings aren't stopping you from using a headset.

3. The last step is to have your Halo 3 communication settings set to Headset Only or TV or Both. Whichever you prefer is fine.

4. If you confirmed all the other steps and it still isn't working, try disconnecting the mic and then reconnecting it.

probably the sever u went in doesn't allow voice chat, or u just needs another head set
