halo wars disc help trade in?

ok my retarded friend broke my halo wars disc because he moved the xbox while it was spinning and i want to trade it in so if i take it to wal mart or gamestop will they only take the disc to trade in or will they take the case to because i have limited edition case and walmart doesnt carry the limited edition ones and gamestop stopped selling them here and i dont want the regular case in exchange so help please
i meant its scratched because the laser messed it up and put a ring on it and now it says please enter it inot an xbox 360 console

if they don't take the case then u will probably only be able to trade the disc in

wal mart will only take it if they have it in stock and the case has to go with it. most places will only exchange it and then only if you have the recite.
if it is just scratched then take it to a game crazy and get it resurfaced. if it is cracked through then your out of luck.
