Halo Wars (spartans?)?

Just so you know if this is answered in the game i dunno cause i didnt buy it. so....

Wasnt one of the main points in the 1st game that master chief was the last of his kind? How the hell do they have all these spartans running around in the commercials?
Oh and also...wouldnt halo wars have to be after halo 1-3 ( i dont know if it is) since they didnt know the aliens/ their existence in the 1st ones?

Halo wars takes place before all of the Halos, when there were still lots of spartans. IDK, this isn't the whole UNSC thats fighting, just the people from the ship called the Spirit of Fire.
