My boyfriend has an xbox 360 and thinks it's hysterical that I don't know how to play Halo 3. I've never even picked up an xbox controller before now and when I do try to play by the time I figure out where I am...

So my question is...
Is there a game I can get so that I can learn the controller and get a feel for the system?
Is Gears of War first person shooter?
