How Can I Beat Halo Wars on Heroic Difficulty?

is there a strategy u used to make the missions a little easier? cuz i tried doing it solo cuz no one else was on and this spirit dropship keeps dropping troops into my base. and when i send my units to try and kill them they own me.

stay behind cover all the time cars provide protection and don't wander off stay with squad
