Audacity(Sound recording and editing)

Pinnacle Studios 12(Video Editing)

Now I am wanting to learn how to record and integrate the voice file into Sony Vegas. Can someone help me as to How do i get the recording done so i doesn't cut off by itself when actually recording? Than after that how do i save and transfer the files into vegas?
