How do you make a "sky platform" in the forge mode of Halo 3?

A sky tower... You know when you use the radio tower to do something, that is where I am stumped.

I'm lost about the radio tower. I was under the impression you meant a platform that floats in the air, and if that's the case you can build up to the height you want with crates, put what you want to float on top, and then delete the lower crates.
