How Exactly do i Use Xbox Live with Halo 3?

Im kinda new at using Xbox Live, and im not exactly sure what im doing....

go to matchmaking on the halo 3 menu then it tell you what kind of match you want since you new to XBL try using online practice so you could practice online then after a few days you can play online with the big boys oh then go where it says look for match then a look for a quick match for you then you should start playing
