how is halo 3 different than halo odst?

Halo odst is set between halo 2 and 3 so it's more of a prequal. Instead of playing as master cheif you are an odst which is a different type of "warrior". In halo odst there are new things like a silenced smg and pistol. Plus there is a new xbox live mode called fire fight, which is a lot like horde in hears of war. Also there is another disk with every halo 3 online map plus a couple extra.
