How to be the best at Halo 3?

It would be really cool if people out there that play halo 3 would give me some usefull tips on how to better myself in matchmaking..... notice i said helpfull. that means i dont want someone who doesnt know what there talking about to answer and say " Well i imagine that you would want to not get shot." or " My best opinon is to hide and sneek up on someone."
So please only answer if you know the game and do have helpful sugestions.

beat the game on legendary by yourself, that should improve your game play

All you have to do is get use to using different weapons and know the levels. Then just try to take out all you can, you will eventualy get good without knowing.

Like the first answer, always practice.
Also, remember, the biggere the gun, the better, so always be on the lookout for the best guns.
Grenades are your friend. Even if you are not that great at grenade throwing, find special grenades that will help you. IF you find yourself outnumbered, grenades will most likely help you get out, because people will back away from you if they see a grenade thrown because they do not want to get blown up.
Also, I do not recommend dismounted turrets for people who aren't that great. Leave the turrets to the more experienced players. This is because more experienced players are more alert than the less experienced people, so they are more aware where and when they need to hit, since the turret slows you down so much.
Depending on what match type you like to play, play unranked games of that match as practice until you think you are good enough to go into ranked matches.

uhmm well if someone starts shooting you first its wise to jump and crouch making you a smaller target and will sometimes make you the victor of the battle...throw a frag garnade and then one shot to the head with the battle rifle is good....sliding quickly side to side so the oppenet misses you
the rest is pretty much being a good shot and having good vision

I don't play much Halo 3, but be careful when you jump and where you jump, it can help you get away or just make you a sitting duck as you come back down. You can be very easy to pick off in the fall and as you land.

If you have X-Box live use that because if you can kill a lot on there you will start to see results. if you don't have xbox live just have a lot of ur Friends over and kick there bumms to get practice....
or just loads of Practice

well if your fighting someone with a bigger weapon then you get 2 smgs or get a spartan laser but it takes to long to load if you really want to destroy your enemie get a rocket launcher that helps and the you jump and shoot at your enemie cause it can kill you if your too close but then you could get long range and get a covent beam rifle or sniper rifle but then i like using the needler that helps if sticks your enemie and blows up good luck killing
