I can't figure out how to play Halo Wars Multiplayer!!help!?

I want to play with my brother. I dont have xbox live i just want to play with the people in the room. I went to skirmish and tried but couldnt figure out how to play with my bro. i tried multipayer picked system link and it said link lost connection or something... but i shouldnt need a connection.... help

Halo Wars doesn't have split-screen co-op or anything like that. All the game has in terms of multiplayer is system link or Xbox Live. This is probably done this way because it would be too easy to figure out what the other is doing (if playing against each other) just by screen peaking. So if you want to play Halo Wars with someone in the same house/apartment/etc you're going to have to system link two 360's.
