I cant save files on halo 3 while playing offline?

Every time i play halo 3 off line i have to start all over again and it doesnt save, but it loads and saves while im playing online, this is the only game with that problem.

no gears of war does the same thing too...
just stay online.. or finish it before u sign on

Play logged in with your with you xbox live gamertag isntead of playing offline.
