In Halo 3, Spartan or Elite?

Which of the two is harder to kill? I love being a spartan but sometimes i feel it may be a little too easy to kill. So my question is, is it better to be a spartan or an elite?

I always have felt that the elites are harder to get headshots on, since they're hunched over and all

elites have big heads and are easy to headshot, so I think the spartans are actually harder to kill (unless you use customized armor for the elite, in which case they are about equal)..
