In order to fully enjoy Halo 3...?

Do I need to have first played Halo 1 & 2? I haven't even so much as seen either game in person, much less played them. If I've heard correctly, the Halo saga is fairly epic, and I'm just wondering if the whole thing will be lost on me if I come in at Halo 3 without having played the first two installments.

Well for your question YOU DONT NEED TO but if you like halo 3, then why not the other 2 thier just as fun? Also if you get halo 3 in the manual it tells you the story so far, i played 1 and 2 at my friends but never remembered the story but then i read the halo 3 manual and it was pretty clear for me. Have fun
