is halo 3 hard for beginners?

well, tomorrow im going to gamestop and i wanna pick up a 1st persion shooter game(first time ever) for xbox 360, is halo 3 hard? like can ijjust pick it up and play it without any halo knowledge or 1st person shooter knowledge?
or can you reccomend an easy first person shooter games for me?

It's pretty easy, if you set the game difficulty on Easy or Normal. Multiplayer is a different story.
