Is halo combat evolved same as halo 3?

I am currently playing halo 1 for the pc(i know, huh i am so sad) and wanted to know nthat is the gamepplay the same and the enviroments and wich is better?

never HALO 3 is one of the most played games on LIVE, it rulez and once the MYTHIC MAP PACKS hit the xbox marketplace it will be bigger!!!!!!
