Is there something special I must do to claim the IWHBYD skull in Halo 3?

On Halo 3 on the Level the covenant jumped through all the rings and they lit up and I returned to the bridge and found the skull. I picked it up but when i saved and quit it didnt appear under claimed skulls. Is there something else I must do to claim it?

U have to finish the level after you picked it up, I had the same problem but then I just finished it and I had it. Also I suggest holding the skull when you finish the level because I don't remember if you have to hold it.
