More marines on Halo Wars?

I was playing this guy online and he had a huge infantry, and I had was 30 marines, so how do i get more?

If you are playing standard you can make a field station (i forgot what it is really called) and get 10+ to your population. If you are playing death match the more bases you have the more your population is. So if he had a huge army of marines he could of owned a ton of bases on death match or got the 10+ to his pop. with the field station
