Question about Halo 3 and 1V1?

On halo 1 (xbox), I could play 1v1 with my brother in those arena type games.

I cant find a way to do this in halo 3; is it possible?

Can i just play 1v1 with my brother on the same xbox360 using two controllers or what?

U can do 1v1. U need two profiles. Sign in with one of em before going into forge or custom games. Once u sign in with one profile go into custom games. It should say sign in or something like that if u have 2 controllers connected. (top right) Now press wat it tells u to press to sign in. And sign in with other profile. Wala U can now start the MATCH!!! My gamertag is: OK NOT 2 DIE

Its really quite simple... Go to the custom games lobby from the main menu, from here you can choose which map you want to play and what type of game, such as team slayer or an objective type game like oddball.
