Should I Get Gears of War 2 or Halo 3?

Hi. I'm thinking about which game to get. Halo 3 is a first person shooter, which I prefer over third person shooters, but I'm not really into the plot and it seems a bit too sci-fi to me. Gears of War 2 has a great plot in my opinion, but I kind of dislike the third person shooter. Overall, which one do you prefer? Thanks!
@ Everybody: I am not interested in purchasing Halo Reach as of right now so please don't recommend Reach.
