Stupid question about Halo 3?

So a month or so ago I beat the game on hard, and recently I started a new game on Legendary. Haha well, five minutes in I can tell it's too hard for me. So I wanted to start the game over in Hard mode again. But I can't figure out how to start a new game game, or at least change the difficulty setting. The only way I can see to start a new game is if I do it on a different gamer tag, but I don't want to create a new Gamer Tag. I want to reset the game on my current tag and start again. How do I do this?

their is an option called difficulty i think or it just says legendary , thats what your after
